Euthanasia Services for Pets

A pain-free and humane procedure for cherished companions at the end of their life.

Although death is inevitable, it doesn’t make it easier when it’s time to say goodbye. Losing your beloved cat or dog is one of the worst experiences any pet parent can have. Our entire team is here to offer you support and make you aware of the options and resources available to you when mourning your feline or canine. When your loyal companion reaches the end of their life, we will be here to give them a pain-free and respectful passing.

When is euthanasia recommended?

Your veterinarian may recommend the procedure when your cat or dog's quality of life is low. Quality of life refers to how happy, healthy, and comfortable your loyal companion is. Chronic pain, traumatic injury/accidents and terminal illnesses have a direct effect on their quality of life. Before euthanasia is recommended, the vet will use pain medication to treat their symptoms. However, this may not be a viable option in the long term. In that case you must make the difficult decision. We know it’s incredibly difficult but consider how your companion is living now compared to when they were happy, active and full of life. You will notice they shy away more, hide, become less responsive and affectionate - these are all signs that your cat or dog’s quality of life is deteriorating.

What happens during the procedure?

The process is simple and will be over within a few minutes. Before euthanasia begins, we allow you and your family to have your last moments with your feline or canine pal. To start the procedure, they may be given a sedative to keep them calm. Euthanasia medicine will be administered intravenously through an injection. The patient won't have any physical reaction but instead will begin to drift off into a deep sleep. The medication will immediately stop their vital organs from functioning.

Can euthanasia take place at home?

Yes, we can provide this service at your home if necessary. Our goal is to make your loyal companion as comfortable as possible and make the process seamless. To make special arrangements for your cherished companion, feel free to call us at 403-843-2234.
